Aggressive Skate Tricks- HOW TO: Cess Slide
Posted by Sheds on the Roller Warehouse Aggressive Skate Forum
Ok, cess slides are probably some of the easiest things to learn, and relatively safe at the same time. This thread contains a how-to for royale and unity cess slides.
ROYALE CESS
1. Find a long smooth surface, waxed smooth concrete works awesome.
2. Roll up to the surface you plan on sliding on at a medium speed to start. While learning at least, I suggest bending down, really low, that way if you fall its not far and you can keep going until you get it, I think this also looks great especially once you start jumping up onto stuff.
3. Take a small hop, just enough to turn your body 90 degrees and lay your skates down into royale position and make sure that they are at an angle so that the wheels ARE NOT touching ANYWHERE, this will make you fall almost for certain and might twist your ankles bad.
4. Stay low and keep your feet under you with your balance centered over your skates. Slide through until you feel your speed leaving you, and it will, fast.
5. Make another small hop and either turn the 90 degrees to land fakie, which is what I have found to be the easiest landing, or turn forward and roll away feeling accomplished!
UNITY CESS
1. Find a long smooth surface, waxed smooth concrete works awesome.
2. Roll up to the spot again, this time you won’t want to be quite as low, still bend those knees some though, if for nothing else style. A bit more speed is usually needed for this one.
3. Make a hop, turning your body 90 degrees , crossing your legs into untiy position. Try to only jump as high as necessary to accomplish the position needed, this will reduce impact. Reducing impact is important for two reasons. One, less impact = more speed and smoother slide. Two, there will be less pain for you and helping you to focus on getting it right faster.
4. I can’t stress how important it is for you to keep your balance directly centered over your skates for this one, it is essential to keep moving. Also, sit down into the trick as much as you can, this will bend your skates/ankles more, reducing the chance of a wheel catching and killin you. It also looks SOOO awesome!
5. Hop outta the slide, spinning into the desired direction a successful and accomplished roller!
I seem to be natural at cessing stuff, i’m sorry if this is missing something and if you need more help just send me a PM and i’ll do what I can to help you out!

my favorite cess slide (the one i can do the best) is a kindgrind cess slide.. the hardest part of this is keeping your weight, which is on your soul foot, on top of the boot. you also want to tweak them out so you slide on the boot… you lose some control but they look a hell of a lot better… and also wear knee pads when you learn em cause you’ll fall on yer knees a lot (at least i did)

what i don’t get is why people always wax rails and ledges.
wouldn’t it be easier just to put wax on your skate’s grinding area so that you could move from one rail to another without waxing each individual one?

No justindulgeme because wax doesn’t really stick to plastic that well and after 2 grinds all the wax will just scrape off.
