Aggressive Skate Tricks- HOW TO: Drop In
Posted by Imightbearedneck on the Roller Warehouse Aggressive Skate Forum
Ok I know all of us are new to skating at some point and all of us want to learn to drop in at some point. So I decided to make this little tutorial.
1) Before going for it, it would be a good idea to not only find a small enough quarter pipe ( I recommend it being at least 5 feet and under) But you should also try to drop in on funboxes, and banks because they are easier.
2) Once you get used to those, find a quarter pipe the size you would like, make sure no one else is skating it if you are going to do this part. Try just pumping up and down the ramp and seeing how close to the coping you can get. This will give you a feel for the ramp. Keep the other skaters in mind when doing this, because there is nothing more annoying than a beginner who does nothing but pump when you want to skate.
3) Once you are comfortable with that, you are ready to drop in. Take one of your feet, and put it on the coping in the H Block. Do the same with the other foot. Then LEAN FORWARD AND BEND YOUR KNEES. One kid I tought to drop in explained it as “going to pee over a ledge and falling over it” Whatever works. Don’t be afraid to lean forward, when people fall dropping in, they nearly always fall on their butt because they didn’t lean forward enough. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE FALL FORWARD BECAUSE THEY LEANED FORWARD TOO MUCH DROPPING IN.
That’s about all, and good luck.

hey there everyone!
im a skating noob, having started 3 weeks ago! i have successfully dropped into small quarterpipes… 1/2 a meter… but yes! i have been very satisfied with myself… so today i went around the corner to the skatepark and tried the bigger one… thats about 20 minutes ago… yes! anyways im at the top of the ramp thinking of what it said in this tutorial”I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE FALL FORWARD BECAUSE THEY LEANED FORWARD TOO MUCH DROPPING IN.” it gave me the mindpower to go down that quarterpipe! so yeah! i lean foreward and kik the board down…. you should have seen me! would have been the first person youd have ever seen falling forewards from leaning foreward too much! lol!
yes! in the future i shall try again… but not lean as much as i did…! thanks for this tutorial! it really gave me the balls to even try that drop in and i think ill keep trying til i get it right!
Phil!
