CUSTOM: Them Skates Ivory

Written by RW

Them Skates Ivory Them skates have been flying off the shelves, and for good reason. These skates come at a great price of $165 for a boot only skate. The wide plastic shell accommodates almost every liner we have in stock. Making it possible for many foot sizes and shapes to use this skate. The wheel wells carved out also lets you ride some bigger wheels as well as certain frames that normally wouldn’t fit without modification. A perfect blank slate to get your custom skate started with.

The Frames: Ground Control Featherlite 3 Frames

The Ground Control Featherlite 3 frames are some of the best frames out right now, and one of our personal favorites. Several new upgrades to these frames have made them even better then before. New metal frame spacers makes it so you have a solid connection between your bearing and frame. This reduces friction, while giving enough space to let your wheel roll freely without letting your bearing rub against the inner sidewall of the frame. New plastic formula in these frames makes them slide faster then ever, and feel even more solid than the last generation. The white FL3 frames with black sickle axles go perfect with any custom setup. Comes in 3 sizes for optimized fit.

Bones Reds Bearings (8)

These skates are custom with red highlights on the frame and liner. So why not go with some Bones Red Bearings too! One of the companies that makes bearings specifically for skating is Bones Bearings. Some of the highest quality bearings at an affordable price.
Features:
• Single, removable, non-contact rubber shield allows for easy cleaning and less rolling resistance.
• High speed Nylon™ ball retainer provides added speed and strength.
• Skate Rated™ clearances, tolerances, materials and lubricant provide the best performance and durability possible.

SOUL PLATE : Super Tough Nylon

These soul plates are great. Their like a new and improved Valo/Roces soul plate. With a much more up to date backslide/groove area that gives you a nice slide right out the box. The grind area is a nice size without being overly beefy like some other skate brands. Sometimes soul plates are so big it takes a while to break them in. On the other hand, some soul plates are so small they seem almost dead before you even skate them. These are a perfect middle ground, ready to shred right out the box. Extremely solid feeling like all past Valo soul plates Jon Julio has put his stamp of approval on.

  Powerslide MyFit Recall Medium Liner

This skate is equipped with the MYFIT “Recall” Dual liner covering two sizes. The liner is fully lasted, perfect in shape and fit, wraps around your foot like a sock. The fit of MYFIT liner can be customized by heat moulding at around 80° C in an oven. The padding in cuff and ankle area consists of a tricky combination of high quality heat mouldable EVA foams and an additional layer of special memory foam, which gives the liner it´s very comfortable feeling when you step in. The toe area of the liner is made by a comfortable stretch material that can grow easy by one size. The tongue is integrated, thus providing great control and fit. Unlike many other tongues of skates this tongue cannot move or slip down during skating activities. Recall dual liner are light weight and hand washable. This liner also features a thin but effective innersole and a carrying strap.
