The new DVD from Mindame, Accidental Machines

By Steve Kerr

Accidental Machines is the first aggressive skate DVD starring the new generation of Mindgame team riders! Dustin Latimer and Aaron Feinberg are the only remaining riders from the original team featured in the first Mindgame classic Brain, Fear, Gone. Dustin and Aaron’s sections are a bit different this time around with Dustin’s being a series of free-flowing lines that seamlessly connect together, a must see for any true Latimer fans. Aaron’s part is a bit more dramatic and ties in with a couple of the hilarious skits that the Mindgame videos are always known for.

What really boosts Accidental Machines up to par with what you would expect only from Mindgame are the sections from their newest pro riders Don Bambrick, Billy “Fish” O’Neal, and Ben Schwab. Bambrick builds upon the skills he displayed in Bang! with a solid mix of technical tricks and hammers such as landing the HUGE 180 that you saw him attempting in the first Accidental Machines teaser. Fish contributes a bunch of fast skating stunts which he filmed back home on the east coast with all of the hot deals he got out here with Shane and the rest of the guys. The standout section this time around is Ben Schwab. Previously, Ben was always good for a couple of the hottest clips in the friends sections, but this time he’s been moved up to the pro team and has taken full advantage of his first oppurtunity for a full profile in a Mindgame vid. In true “Mindgame” fashion he does some of the coolest tricks on spots that most bladers would skate by without even noticing and gets creative finding new ways to destroy some of So-Cal’s most famous rails and ledges.

In addition to all of this excitement there are solid sections from the ever popular Chris Farmer and Brian Aragon. The supporting cast even includes rollerblading legends Arlo Eisenberg, Brooke Howard-Smith, and Chris Mitchell who reprises his role as Sebastian the photographer. Oh and don’t forget the always intense falls section. The look and feel of the filming and editing in Accidental Machines is consistent with the high quality and style of the previous Mindgame titles and successfully melds your old favorites with those who are sure to be your new favorites! As the first skit jests, Accidental Machines is one of the videos that will bring rollerblading out of the “dark ages.”
